Introduction: Gilli Danda is a game played by a group of minimum 4 boys aged 8 years and above. It is a popular game in all parts of rural India with variations in name and scoring method. This game is precursor to the game of cricket where the ball is replaced with Gilli. Gilli Danda is known by different names in different parts of India. In Tamil it is known as Kitti Pul, in Bengali as Danguli, in Kannada as Chinni Dandu, in Marathis as Viti Dandu, in Telegu as Gooti Billa etc. How to Play: The players are divided in two teams to play this game – the hitter team and the opponent team.   To play this game, one needs a long stick named as danda, and a short stick with tapered ends, generally known as gilli. The danda is used to flick the short gilli into the air, and hit again to make it travel to a maximum distance.    India has a huge and unique culture among all the countries in the world. Because of the flexibility in cultures, every state has its own sport to follow. In ancient time Indian sports and games were more concerned about the physical development and wanted to empower players with the art of defense and offence. Games were also considered as a kind of exercise, which played an important role in the development of one’s personality and fortunately India has a rich tradition of these games. Ancient time games were like Pachisi, played by Lord Shiva and Parvati, game of Dice in which Pandavas lost Draupadi and the Mughals enjoyed playing chess.  But steadily time changed and so did our sports. Marbles:  Kanche/ Marbles are one of the most popular Indian games played all of the country in India mostly by boys. It appeals to people of all ages. It is known as Kanchey in the North and Golli Gundu in the South. There are various different games played all around the country with marbles. A  marble  is a small spherical toy often made from  glass ,  clay ,  steel ,  plastic  or  agate . These balls vary in size. Most commonly, they are about 1 cm ( 1 ⁄ 2  in) in diameter, but they may range from less than 1 mm ( 1 ⁄ 30  in) to over 8 cm (3 in), while some art glass marbles for display purposes are over 30 cm (12 in) wide. Marbles can be used for a variety of  games called  marbles . They are often  collected , both for nostalgia and for their aesthetic colors. In the North of England the objects and the game are called "taws", with larger taws being called  bottle washers  after the use of a marble in  Codd-neck bottles , which were often collected for play.
